Fingertip Pulse Oximeter

Small, lightweight monitor pulse oximeter for home use are painlessly attached to a fingertip to monitor the amount of oxygen carried in the body.
A level of oxygen above 95% is usually regarded to be an ordinary level of oxygen. An oxygen level of 92% or less (at sea level) indicates low blood oxygen.

Standard pulse rates for 60-80 beats per minute2 for adolescents.
With practice, the heart rate can be anticipated to raise some, and oxygen saturation may reduce moderately (although it should stay at 90% or higher).

Pulse oximetry is a non-invasive method to monitor the oxygen saturation (SO2) of an individual.
Although it is reading of SpO2 (peripheral oxygen saturation) from arterial blood gas assessment is not always the same as the more desirable reading of SaO2 (arterial oxygen saturation),
the two are well linked so that the secure, convenient, non-invasive, affordable pulse oximetry technique is useful for evaluating oxygen saturation in clinical use.

The percentage of blood loaded with oxygen is displayed by a blood-oxygen monitor. More specifically, it measures what percentage of the blood-carrying protein,
hemoglobin, is loaded. For patients without pulmonary pathology, acceptable ordinary ranges range from 95 to 99 percent.
An estimate of arterial pO2 can be produced from the blood-oxygen monitor “peripheral oxygen saturation” (SpO2) reading for a patient breathing room air at or near sea level
